ISO 22301: 2012 specifies the requirements for planning, establishing, deploying, managing, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining, and continually improving the documented management system to protect, reduce the likelihood of occurrence, prepare, respond, and recover from adverse incidents when they occur.

The requirements set out in ISO 22301: 2012 are generous and are intended for application to all organizations or their parts, regardless of the type, size, and nature of the organization. The scope of application of these conditions depends on the operating environment and complexity of the organization.
